Weetbix Tryathlon Is Back

Great news that the Weet-bix Kids Tryathlon event is back on the calendar!

The bad news is that there are only two Auckland events, no Hay Park or Browns Bay venues, so Ōwairaka will be entering in the East Auckland Tryathlon at Pt England Reserve on Sunday 12 February 2023.

If you are new to the Weet-bix Kids Tryathlon check out the website for more information: Website link.

Auckland Marathon

Congratulations to the 22 Owairaka children who completed their first marathon over the weekend. They have been training hard over the last 12 weeks to complete 40km, and on Sunday 30th October ran the final 2km and crossed the Auckland Marathon finish line down at Victoria Park.

Girls Rugby

You may have seen an article on the news last night about the Girls' Rippa Rugby Tournament that was held at Western Springs over the weekend. I managed to watch one of the games that Dayelle and Phoenix played and was very impressed with their team's ability to pass the ball around and to defend as a team. It was also great to see the teams mixed up in the second half, due to the Eden girls winning the first half. Apparently this happened in all their games so congratulations on all your games girls!! We look forward to seeing you representing Aotearoa, Tonga or Samoa one day.

After School Football Sessions

If  you are a keen footballer this could be for you...

Touch at Fearon Park

Do you want to learn to play touch? Try this module on Friday nights at Fearon Park.  The module starts the first week back at school so if you are interested in playing with other kids from Ōwairaka contact Maria at mmudgway@owairaka.school.nz by Friday 7 October.

Free Tickets

Thank you to Kia Motors and Auckland Rugby for giving us free tickets to the Auckland v Taranaki game held this weekend. Each of our 2022 rippa / rugby players was given 2 tickets so they could take a  family member to enjoy the game at Eden Park.
Congratulations to Auckland on your win!
