Auckland Primary Schools Rugby League Champs

After winning the Open Weight Division for the Central Zone Primary Rugby League Comp last week our team played in the Auckland Championships today. The team was beaten by three very good teams from Pt England, Everglade and Glen Eden. Everyone was very proud of how the kids played as a team and improved with every game they played, coming very close to winning the final game. Every player had something to offer today, whether it was strong tackling or hard hit ups. They held their heads high and did a great job representing our school.
Special thanks goes to our coach Tarsh, without whom we wouldn't have got to the championships.
You may also have noticed that we have been playing in Marist jerseys which were kindly lent to us by Victoria - thank you, much appreciated as always!!!

Kauri Cross Country

On Monday the 10th of June, The whole of Kauri sat on the hall steps in anticipation. Slowly the year 6 boys lined up by the start cones, waiting for the whistle too go. Tweeeet. Some boys shot of like a bullet and some paced themselves. Then in a second, they were gone. Then it was the year 6 girls turn. We all lined up bubbling with anticipation. The sharp tweet of the whistle rang. We all ran off leaving the school in the our.
The year 5 boys were next. They were on a hair trigger to go. As the whistle blasted they shot off like a bullet. Lastly the Year 5 girls. They were the only ones left and were as eager as a cat at feeding time. The last whistle pierced the air and they shot off running as fast as cheetahs.
On the track there was tough competition, everyone hoping to be first. The first 3 racers in each age group were:
Year 6 boys: Nuradiin rm23, Olly rm8, Digby rm8.
Year 6 girls: Emacyn rm7, Joyce rm8, Alodia rm8.
Year 5 boys: Alan rm7, Anjola rm24, Liam rm24.
Year 5 girls: Deborah rm24, Neena rm24, Oshani rm24.

Well done to all the competitors and a big thanks to the teachers for organising and the parents who came to help and support.

Puriri Cross country

Congratulations to all the children who participated in our cross country run yesterday. Last week we walked the route in 20 minutes and we were amazed at how many children halved that time. Here are the first 6 placegetters for each year group:
Year 3 girls

Year 3 boys

Year 4 girls

Year 4 boys

Thanks again to all the wonderful parents who helped keep the children safe as they ran and to everyone who came along to support their children. 😀
